Where was I ...

First of all, I'm not 7' tall. Never have been. I'm 6' 4" but I feel much taller. The idea of "7 foot" comes from my days as a high jumper. I jumped higher than 7', thus making me a "7-footer." Yes, white men can jump. They just can't dance very well.

My name is Ray Seguin. I grew up a poor copywriter in the remote reaches of Canada, close to the little-known outpost of Montreal. I had nary enough ink in my pen to scribble a witty headline back then. But in just 14 years since graduating from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, I've worked my way through the ranks as a copywriter, associate creative director, marketing director, and even a brief stint as a cook. Hey, you take what you can get. I make a killer omelet.

I've also been a TV reporter, sports journalist, professional voiceover artist, raconteur and all-around creative dude. If advertising were a sport, I'd be a decathlete.

My passion is creative writing that grabs attention. But whether it's a billboard, banner ad, new product name or catchy tagline, it has to stand out. As the great David Ogilvy said, "If it ain't creative, it won't work." Ogilvy loved using slang. He was all street, back in the day.
